I’d like to link a very useful tool for looking into the SQL Server storage engine and seeing how data is physically allocated, organised and stored: SQL Internals Viewer.
The features currently implemented regard allocation (GAM, SGAM, IAM), page viewing and SQL editing. You can download it here.
Very Cool!!!

Aduna AutoFocus

Posted by dariosantarelli on April 11, 2007

Aduna AutoFocus helps you to search and find information on your PC, network disks, mail boxes, websites and Aduna Metadata Server sources. It scans all places where you expect valuable information and provides powerful means for retrieving that information. The important difference with other search tools is that AutoFocus presents the search results using Cluster Maps (VERY COOL Feature!!!). In these maps you can see how files, web pages or emails are related to your question.
The birds-eye view helps you gain insight in information that is available on combinations of keywords. In each step of your search it shows the number of documents that match your search (and of course a link to the documents themselves) so that you can effectively zoom in to find what you seek.

Here you are some Benefits:

  • search results presented in a Cluster Map for better overview
  • facets show what metadata is available in sources
  • support for multiple information sources and file types
  • significant terms summarize clusters and suggest search refinements

CCleaner supports Windows Vista

Posted by dariosantarelli on March 29, 2007

I think CCleaner is one of the best freeware for cleaning our PC up from temporary files, cookies, application data from applications like IE, Firefox, WMP, eMule, Google Toolbar, Acrobat etc. !!!
By using the “Uninstall Manager” feature, you can uninstall unwanted programs, without opening the default Windows “Uninstall Application” Panel. Moreover, CCleaner allows you to clean up the system registry (by deleting not valid/unused entries) and often free some relevant disk space.
The last release – 1.38.485 (7th March 2007) – supports Windows Vista!!!!.
CCleaner can be downloaded here (2.56 MB). It seems that Microsoft itself advices CCleaner when the PC is affected by Spyware or Malware (as you can check here).
